To start off my blog (and the year), I’d like to share my AVN Expo ‘08 experience in Las Vegas.
This was my second AVN. Last year was such a blast. Basically a pervert’s Disneyland (or maybe more or a pervert’s Comicon?). Anyway, this year I decided to make it to CES, since I was able to register for free and the hotel rates for Wednesday to Friday weren’t astromical. I got some good rates at Monte Carlo at the last minute, but ended up not having a good experience with that hotel. I should have kept my reservation at Treasure Island. Anyway, CES was OFF-THE-HOOK! I didn’t realize how big that convention was. It will literally take you days to see everything much less concentrate of certain vendors. Anyway, onto the porn convention….
Compared to last year’s AVN Expo, this year was slightly disappointing. A few things, the price for tickets went up (from $75 to $80). It wouldn’t have been a big deal to me but this year’s convention was noticably smaller than last year’s, plus several companies were no-shows, such as Club Jenna, Zero Tolerance, etc. The ticket line this year was SLOWWWW. Took about 30 minutes to get tickets. There was a VIP ticket line for $100. Not sure what the VIP privileges were but most likely it is just a shorter line.
This year, I was better prepared. I had a faster camera (with lithium batteries) and brought some favorite DVD covers to sign. I wonder what Hillary Scott thought when I had her sign a Wet Food DVD cover, with a picture of her holding a cum-filled dogfood bowl and her face splattered with sperm? God I love that video. Delilah Strong signed my Feeding Frenzy DVD with a picture of her licking a popsicle made of frozen cum. She said she loved doing that video, and that Jules Jordan can’t find any other girl who would do anything like that. Rock on!
As far as the starlets:
Belladonna: I love this girl. She truly loves her fans (which I’ve noticed at every convention) and it shows. It’s cool that they gave out replicas of her famous chest tattoo (in a temporary tatoo version). I usually don’t like waiting in lines for more that 15 minutes for autographs, but I made an exception for her.
Priya Rai: She is a new, up and cummer to the Porn biz. I’ve only known about her recently. An Indian beauty and a model turned adult actress. Man, she is just gorgeous. I’ll be looking out for her videos I have a thing or Indian girls.
Delilah Strong: She is really cool. Her (Shane’s World) booth had a “spin the wheel, win a prize”. I didn’t win a kiss, darn. When I spun it, it fell on “Kiss her feet”, but she move it to “Win a DVD”. Love her.
Ava Rose: I didn’t know about her until last year’s AVN Expo. Very stunning. She doesn’t do much gonzo work so I’ve yet to buy/rent any of her stuff, but I need to change that.
Ava Devine: This Ava is pretty wild. She always has a mob-scene at her signing because she as very interesting interactions with her fans. From the mutual fondlings to her ripping off verious articles of fan’s clothing. Check out this video I took of Ava ripping out a fan’s underwear:
Stoya: Another up-and-cummer and pretty popular at the convention. I’ll be looking out for this one too.

One thing they need to do at the booths is make sure they have a sign of who’s signing. There’s always some starlet’s that I’ve never seen before and it’s not obvious what the girl’s name is. Jules Jordan/Evil Angel are pretty good with their booth displays and usually have the names prominently displayed. Even with the girls I know of I may miss because sometimes they look drastically different from their videos because they have more make-up than usual or have a different hair-style or what-not. I think I missed Lexi Belle because if it.

Anyway, it was a good time. Hopefully the planets will align again for next year so I can go. There’s been rumors that AVN has been sold. Who knows, they may move AVN to another location, or only have the awards show (or be trade-only). I hope it stays in Vegas. Here’s looking forward to Erotica-LA ‘08
